I was channel hopping this morning and came across a show called "Maybe It's Me", a high school comedy about a young girl, Molly Stage, struggling to cope within a rather odd family. It doesn't seem that bad, actually, but nothing out of the ordinary. I was so surprised to see Meghan Ory guest starring, though. *lol*
In the Season 1, Ep 18 "The Lab Partner", Molly is partnered with one of the rich and popular kids, Lauren (Meghan Ory). Initially the two don't get along, but when Lauren is heartbroken in class one day after breaking up with her boyfriend, Molly helps her out and earns membership into the 'elite'.
Feeling the need to fit in, Molly beings to change herself, her style and way of thinking, which alienates her from her best friend. Molly volunteers to host a party when one of the popular girls' parents decide they aren't going away for the weekend, but, predictably enough, the party becomes riotous and Molly gets frazzled trying to keep her parents home in one piece.
In desperation, Molly phones her best friend, who not only helps drive the rowdy teenagers from the house, but assists in covering up the party from Molly's parents, proving her friendship.
Meghan's character wasn't all that dissimilar from Sherry, actually. But I'm beginning to wonder if she hasn't been typecast slightly - always the "poor little rich girl" types, as far as I've seen lately (aside from "Merlin's Apprentice" of course, but I missed that one.) But hey! Some work is better than none, eh?
I haven't watched any other episodes, but it seems to be an entertaining enough half an hour. For anyone who might be interested, the link to the IMDb write up is:
