I won't go into plot detail, especially since there are so many shows dealing with the mythology behind the story around at the present, but here's an outline for you.
The plot begins with the curator of the Louvre in Paris being murdered in odd circumsances. He lives long enough to leave clues behind which lead the police to think an American symbologist may be responsible. However, the clues are more than they first aear, but when the American and the grand-daughter of the murdered man go on the run, a determined French policeman is hot pursuit.
The two people on the run discover that the dead man was a lot more than meets the eye - he was one of the Guardians of a secret so huge, so potentially devastating, that their lives are in danger from more than one side. A sinister albino monk, the real killer, is also on their trail. But who is really pulling the strings of this dangerous little puppet?
After having seen the movie, I have to say, there are huge differences. The pacing in the book a more sedate, and, naturally enough, more detailed. And completely absorbing. One thing I didn't like about the book, though, was that the resolution of the mystery seems rushed and slightly anti-climactic. The movie gave the ending that little more finesse, made the discoveries a little more dramatic. But, I still loved both!
You don't have to believe any of the theories set forward, but the arguments are compelling reading. Dan Brown, the author, is amazing! I can't wait to read more of his works.
So, has anyone read the book? Does anyone care to discuss the tale?
'Lissa.
