I saw this show on BBC1 the first week it aired (it's currently on episode 7 of 13), and didn't really think much of it. The main draw for me was Keith Allen as the Sheriff of Nottingham. How could that casting go wrong? Well, the answer is - it can't. He's fab! And it really looks like he's having a great time with this character.
Sure, Robin and his 'men', look like refugees from a boy band, but 'Much', played by Sam Troughton, is a bit of a show stealer. That's when Richard Armitage as Sir Guy of Gisborne isn't on the screen.
On the whole, it's lively and fun and just good entertainment. I am slightly dismayed that there are currently 4 audiobooks of the show available. All narrated by Richard Armitage. Since watching another BBC drama - North and South - last week, I'm finding it hard to keep my finger off the 'buy' button when I see his name!

Heh, no worse than me for my love of the World Series Of Poker, Scanjet!! (My fave player is back on form in the 2006 season so "Woohoo!!") I've not gotten around to watching the show, Rara, but my dad does and he thinks its quite good. He reckons its an unusual take on the legend...I'll hafta try to make an effort to see this weekends ep and all. *grinz* 'Lissa.

Well I always sit down and say I am gonna watch it yet then Eaton Road start to have a sing and then Leona and I cant tear my eyes away. Only if Vampire High, Crossroads, Brookside or Buffy the Vampire Slayer can make me change my eyes from the X Fator! Although I don't like that Strictly Come Dancing! It's just a load of dresses but I have to admit it is good family television that all can watch!

*lol* *gets a mental image of Scanjet trying, with Captain Kirk-esque might to drag himself from watching "The X-Factor"*
Captain Scan : Must - not - watch. Must - turn - - over! TV Zapper : Dammit "Scan", I'm a TV remote, not a doctor!
*lmao* 'Lissa.

I'm totally into this show now! I started out thinking 'oh no!' in a derisive way, but now I'm having the same reaction to Saturday nights that I had when Doctor Who was on.
I'm impressed with the show in general, and every cast member is quite likeable. I was surprised how easy it was to grow invested in the characters (or perhaps 'very invested' is the phrase I should use, in the case of Guy).
There are repeats, I believe, on Sundays and Fridays.

You will be happy to know then that a Season 2 has been announced after gaining a regular 6 million viewers. Full story below from Digital Spy! 'The BBC has confirmed that a second series of Robin Hood has been commissioned. Dominic Minghella will return as writer for the show's second 13 episode run, with actors Jonas Armstrong, Lucy Griffiths, Keith Allen, Richard Armitage, Sam Troughton, Gordon Kennedy, Joe Armstong and Harry Lloyd also all returning. "The cast have engaged and delighted a whole new generation with this fresh and modern retelling of Robin Hood," said BBC fiction controller Jane Tranter. "Keith Allen's captivating portrayal of the menacing Sheriff coupled with the great performances from our young cast headed up by Jonas Armstrong equals compelling drama." Filming on the new series will commence in Budapest in the spring, with the show scheduled to return to BBC One "later next year."' www.digitalspy.co.uk/article/ds39788.html

Hurrah! I'm quite pleased by that news. Quite pleased = jump up and down yelling 'yay!'.
Alright, I'm obsessed. I admit it! Road trip to Hungary in the spring! I wonder if the Beeb could be conned into giving me location information? The only time I've really made an effort to find a location, was when the movie 'Entrapment' was filming in London, and that worked like a dream. So I could get lucky again.
I mentioned that I like this show, right? I thought 'Torchwood' would be the show to fill the void left by The Doctor, but 'Robin Hood' has sneaked up and completely blitzed it.
Yay! Series 2! More Guy and the Sheriff!

*lol* I saw Saturday's "Tattoo" episode - it looks pretty good ("Much" is cute - hehe!) and is actually better acted than I imagined it would be. Its definitely a departure from the old Robin Hood legends and Robin isn't quite the whiter-than-white hero he is in other adaptations. I'll try to remember to tune in next time. Good location spotting, Rara!! When are you planning to go to Hungary? Next year sometime, I'd assume? 'Lissa.

I agree - Much is cute. He's quite the show stealer. He's very sweet and funny. I've been quite surprised that the show isn't just juvenile action and lads up to no good in the forest (oh, that came out so wrong). The show has a heart and I think that shows itself in the cast and the way they play off each other.
Road trip = 'spring'. A bit too vague to actually make plans at the moment (although planning my next trip is probably my favourite thing to do!).

Well apparently Season 2 will have some sort of shocking twist! I didn't know they could do that if they are following a story but there we go!
