Chapter 1
Drew's night out
* * * * *
The night students of Mansbridge Academy were getting ready for Murdoch’s lesson.
The room was, oddly, silent. “So what’s going on with you guys?” stammered Karl, trying to break the silence.
“Um, well, I just got a new book for myself” replied Merrill.
“Cool, cool, what’s it about?” asked Karl.
“Well it’s a book about different rituals all around the world” said Merrill showing Karl the huge black book.
“What’s one you’ve red?” asked Karl.
“Well I haven’t finished one yet but the one I’m reading is about…”
“Shut up!” shouted Marty, who had his feet crossed on the stone table.
“What? I think it’s interesting” said Karl.
“You couldn’t even understand it,” said Marty.
“Back off Marty” said Essie, reading her fashion magazine.
Nobody had noticed Murdoch come down and standing beside Marty. “Well, let’s start our lesson for today”
Marty jumped and fell over on his chair on to the cold cement floor. “The Elders have informed me that the Fury is getting suspicious about all the…uh…odd things going on here at Mansbridge”
“So?” asked Marty.
“So, you are all going to read these books about defense moves” Murdoch handed out the books. “I would like you to be finished reading these by the end of the week”
Murdoch left the vampires to do their reading. “I think Murdoch has finally snapped his cap, I mean, Defenses for teens” said Karl, opening his book.
“Hey it can’t be that bad, we’ll learn how to defend ourselves against the Fury” said Merrill.
“Okay, if you think it's not that bad look on page 44 and 45; the pictures of the things showing the moves are bunnies, oh no the book is totally fine” Karl said sarcastically.
Marty flipped to the pages. “That’s a bunny?” asked Marty. “I thought it was a dog with an ear infection”
“Hey Drew, why don’t you come and get your book, it is 400 pages long and we have 6 nights to read the whole thing, you should start” said Essie looking over at Drew.
Drew was remembering the times he spent with Sherry. Essie walked over and dropped the book onto the floor beside Drew.
The book made a loud bang and Drew snapped out of his trail of thought. “What do you want?” asked Drew.
“Stop thinking about her Drew, she’s gone and that’s that” Essie kneeled down.
“I could have saved her” said Drew sadly.
“No, you saved her by letting her go”
“NO!” Drew stood up angrily and used his super-speed to run to the library.
“What was that about?” asked Marty.
“When the “One” dies a vampire goes through 4 stages a year after their "One" has died” Merrill explained.
“But I thought Drew went with the Elders to get over it or something” said Karl.
“He did but it still hurts and doesn’t always work up to 100 percent” answered Merrill.
Essie sat down on the chairs and listened. “So what are the 4 stages?” asked Karl.
“Well the first is getting in touch with your inner predator; the second is depression or aggression; the third is being gullible or greedy and last is accepting that he or she is gone”
“Wow! What stage is Drew in?” asked Karl.
“I’m sure he is in stage two” said Merrill.
“How long do these stages last?” asked Karl.
“It’s different for everyone”
“What should we do about Drew?”
“It’s best if we let him be on his own”

Meanwhile in the library Drew was reading a book. Tears rolled down his cold pale face as he looked out the window. The sky was a beautiful blue with splashes of purple someone thought would look nice. The moon was huge and bright which light up the whole sky. Maybe I can take a walk, get some air, he decided.
He put away the book then quickly ran out the door and headed into town.
He walked around for a few minutes and enjoyed the night sky and the moon that seemed to follow him were ever he goes. He must have walked by thousands of people and no one ran up and started screaming in terror. He wanted to remember the night forever. He looked at a clock through one of the store windows and decided that he had to go back to Mansbridge. The wind felt good against his skin, as he walked into an alley unknowingly. “Hey boys, look what we have here” said a tough voice.
Drew looked up to see a fat biker guy inches away from him. “Where you going pretty boy?” asked another one of the bikers that walked with another closer to Drew.
“I don’t think that’s any of your business” said Drew with out emotion.
“That’s were you are wrong, it is our business when your coming through our alley” one of the bikers pushed Drew into the rough terrain under them.
Drew looked up at them furiously. “I don’t think he wants you to do that Bruce” laughed one of the other bikers.
Drew stood up and dusted his pants off. “You should’ve stayed down pretty boy” said the biker addressed as Bruce.
Drew suddenly felt a jab in his sides and suddenly felt the anger explode in side him. His eyes turned red and he had his sharp fangs ready to attack. “Look out Bruce, I think he’s angry” laughed the biker that was off to his right.
“Is that so? Well may be I should…” Bruce punched Drew.
But Drew caught his fist inches from his face. Bruce attempted with he’s other fist, but Drew caught that one to and twisted them. Bruce keeled down in pain, while his fists were being twisted around and around. Drew whispered in his ear. “I don’t think you want to mess with me”
Drew showed his fangs. “What? What are you?” Bruce managed to squeak out.
Drew didn’t answer; instead he stuck his fangs slowly into his victim’s neck; he could feel the victim’s pulse slowing down and then stop. Blood dripped down his pale chin and onto the red dyed cement as he stood up to see the other bikers had gone. Ran away like little children when someone challenged him. He felt great, the power he got, and that he didn’t get from those blood excuses at Mansbridge. “Oh no Mansbridge! I have to get back” said Drew, his eyes went back to normal and his fangs were gone.
He realized something, what should he do with the body?
He saw a dumpster about 3 feet away and decided to put the body in it. Drew dragged the biker to the dirty green dumpster and threw his in it and took some of the garbage and covered the body. He started for Mansbridge, and didn’t look back.
He was about 5 blocks away from Mansbridge when he felt a stab in his leg. He looked down to see it was some sort of dart.
Drew yawned. All of a sudden he felt tired and had trouble keeping his eyes open. He turned around to see who had shot the dart, but, his vision was too blurrily and he could only see the out lining of a figure. It was coming towards Drew, closer, and closer, and closer.
Then he fell over and only saw the bright stars slowly start to fade away from his vision. The last thing he saw were many figures looming over top of him until he went unconscious.
* * * * *
“Has anyone seen Drew?” asked Merrill pacing back and forth. “It’s 1 hour till sunrise”
“I’m sure he’s fine Merrill” said Marty sitting on the couch.
“I’m with Merrill, where is Drew?” said Essie.
“Look he’s probably in the library reading a good book” said Karl who was lifting weights.
Murdoch came down. “So what chapter is everybody on?” he asked.
Everyone answered, and they were all, except Merrill, on the first chapter.
“Um…where’s Drew?” asked Murdoch.
“He um…went…to…sleep, ya he went to sleep” lied Merrill.
“Well that doesn’t sound like a bad idea” said Murdoch stretching.
“Bye” said Essie.
Merrill waited half and hour, but Drew still wasn’t there. “I’m worried” said Merrill.
“Hey Drew’s a big boy, he can protect himself” said Marty, who was the only one up, besides Merrill.
“I know but still wouldn’t it be nice if he could come back and sleep before the sun makes him into an omelet” said Merrill angrily.
“I guess but WE do have to sleep now” said Marty heading for his coffin.
Merrill also went for her coffin, but she was still worried about Drew.
* * * * *
Drew woke up in a small iron cell. “What’s going on?” asked Drew.
No one answered. He stood up and looked around; nobody here. The room he was in was dark and musty, and looked kind of similar to the basement he use to sleep in only there were no barrels and no coffins, only a long stone table with iron chairs all around it. “Hello?” shouted Drew, he grabbed the bars. “Is anyone there?”
The lights flickered above him, and he put an arm over his face. He wondered what had happened. But he only drew a blank. Then he heard a sudden slam of a door a few steps away from him. With a bit of fear he stood there to see who had captured him. The steps were of many people and grew louder by the second as they came down the long hall and then came to a halt in front of the cage.
Drew could not believe his eyes, and surprising went more pale than normal.
There in front of him stood the very thing they had been avoiding for the last semesters and this semester.
The devil himself. The leader of the Fury.
Well there you have it, I hope it was almost as good as The Slow Turning (It was an awesome read). I'm still working on Chapter 2 but it will come out soon!!! ;D
(it means XOXO lol)
