OMG, how totally unsettling a book is this?
For those who have read it, please don't tell me the plot as I'm only a few chapters into the book! Cheers, guys! But already I'm certain Stephen has done it again and come up with a concept so chilling simply because it is so within the realms of possibility!
For anyone who hasn't read "Cell", the plot is unnerving to say the least.
Its a perfect autumn day, 3pm when The Pulse hits! Instantly, anyone using a cell phone (mobile phone in the UK) is driven insane! The "phone-crazies" as they become known, wantonly attack anyone nearby with anything they can - knives, bricks, branches...teeth! Planes are crashing as the pilots are exposed to the Pulse, drivers take potshots at pedestrians with abandon...quite literally, all heck breaks loose. And whats the first thing folks do when things start falling apart - call someone to find out whats happening.....creating more phone-crazies.
Those "fortunate" enough to survive the random phone-crazy attacks flee the burning and corpse-filled cities, discovering over the following weeks that the mad ones only travel during the daytime - and, terrifyingly, they seem to be getting smarter, too.
I'll not give anything more away then that, but i'd definitely recommend it so far! 8 out of 10! 'Lissa.
