I guess I've got a bit of a thing for vampires, which is why I watched this, on Nikelodeon (sic?) back in 1993.
It was a Canadian production made in 1990, and starred Geordie Johnson as Dracula, along with Bernard Behrens, Mia Kirshner, Jacob Tierney and Joe Roncetti. Geraint Wyn Davies was a regular guest star.
I got a couple of long term addictions from this show - Geordie Johnson is my favourite actor and it made me a fan of people like Kim Coates, Geraint, Denis Forest, Dave Nicols, Sam Malkin. Especially Kim Coates. ;D
It's not exactly high art, and it's pretty over the top. Geraint wyn Davies in particular is in danger of chewing the set to pieces. But it's just so entertaining! It's a rare occasion indeed that I become a fan of the entire cast of a show, but this was one such case. They all had such great chemistry together.
It's DVD release was a huge surprise to me - but a very welcome one. A bit of a guilty pleasure, but I had absolutely no problem subjecting my entire family to repeated viewings. A good show to quote random lines from.

Ooh! I've never heard of this one, but I'll have to look out for the DVD! *grinz cheesily* Are you in the UK, Rararhade? Just curiosity as to where the DVD's available, thats all. ;D
*ponders* Why does the name Kim Coates sound so familiar? *wanders off curiously* 'Lissa

Ah, Kim Coates. ((sighs affectionately)). I began listing the credits that came to mind, but the list just kept growing. Most relevant to this board: he was in thoughtcrimes starring Joe Flanigan (in which Joris Jarsky also appeared, all too briefly). Lots of TV and supporting roles.
I'm in the UK, but I got the DVD off the Barnes & Noble website (www.bn.com). It was a box set of 2 single disc releases, which apparently could be picked up separately for about $5 each in supermarket bargain bins. I'm glad I had the chance to see it on TV when I did - it hasn't been on at all since.
Incidentally, Geordie Johnson is directing a show at the Stratford Festival, Canada this year. I'm rather disappointed that Paul Hopkins doesn't appear to be returning for a 3rd year though.

Thoughtcrimes, yuppers, thats where I read Kim Coates' name most recently. I've found him elsewhere in other things too, but I'll remember later, I'm sure, which ones. *nods frantically* I just won Thoughtcrimes on DVD on eBay! Its destined to be a part of my growing Joris collection. Hehe! Thankyou for that information, hun. So Barnes and Noble have it, huh? Neat! I'll have to check that out right away! ;D Hey, maybe the Horror channel or one of the more obscure Sky channels might pick "Dracula: the series" up at some point? But I cannot ever recall seeing it, which is a shame 'cause it sounds like so much fun! *LOL* 'Lissa

Hey, I just hope you like it if you get a copy! I'd hate for you to go out and buy it, and hate it! If that's the case, it wasn't me who recommended it... it...um...was my doppleganger (not a waffle). Yeah, that's it. An exact double of me, who also happens to have the same log-in information (and a deep abiding love of Joris Jarsky - coincidence, eh?).
Of course it's such a cool show, how could you not love it!? I mean, who could object to seeing Dracula portrayed as a guy bent on world domination (who keeps misquoting Shakespeare), pursued by an old guy and 3 kids? And don't even get me started on Drac's crazy right hand man, Klaus. Or Nosferatu. Or the actor-turned-vampire (bad career move). I feel a Drac marathon coming on!

*lmao* Given some of the terrible movies and series' I've been guilty of buying, neither you nor your doppelganger will get any blame whatsoever, hunny! *lol* Besides, how could I hold a grudge against anyone who agrees that Joris is wonderful?! ;D
It sounds like a blast, though! As soon as I can find it, I shall have it! Mwahahaha!
Ahem. World domination calls.... *scarpers* 'Lissa.
