I've been watching the second showing of the Canadian TV series, "Tilt" on Player (in the UK on sky TV).
For those who don't know about it, its based in a casino in Las Vegas (though Toronto doubles for Vegas quite ably!) and the fortunes of three young, up-and-coming poker players who have been cheated by a big-time poker pro Don "The Matador" Everest.
Under the tutelege of a man named Seymour Addison, a man who has his own issues with Everest, the trio try to play the pro at his own cheating game. Thats really all I can say without giving too much away. It got cancelled after season one (What is it with Canadian TV shows and season one cancellations?!)
Its a gritty yet strangely addictive drama. There is a lot of violence, there's more blood than cards in most episodes! *lol*, and more plot twists and turns than you can shake a stick at. I have to say that a knowledge of Poker is helpful to following the plot - the voice-over uses a lot of poker terms to describe what's happened and is about to happen.
One of the reasons I mentioned it here is a nice little VH tie in. Joris Jarsky plays Luke, an employee of the casino who, let say, is a lost lamb by the middle of the run. As ever, its nice to see Joris on screen in any kind of role. ;D In fact, he's the main reason I wanted to watch it at all! *lol* I'm not obsessed, really!! *lmao*
I haven't seen them all, so I can't say more. Has anyone else watched it, and if so, what do you think of it?
