Hope you all like it. ;D ;D
If anyone has any tips to help me improve my writing let me know.
“So many things.” Marian Hackett said with a small grin.
“Like?” Dr. Murdoch asked returning the grin.
“Well right now I'm just doing a scheduled check of your school and would love if you would show me around,” she said.
“And why are you checking my school?” Dr. Murdoch asked.
“Do you remember the last time I was here?” she asked.
Dr. Murdoch could remember very clearly the last time she was at Mansbridge, Merrill had a premonition of herself being killed by Marian Hackett and was positive she was going to die. And when Marian Hackett showed up and asked if she could plant sensors in the school that looked for vampire activity, Dr. Murdoch had no option but to agree so he would not appear suspicious. Sadly Merrill let off one of the sensors and Marian Hackett found her way down to the cellar but after some quick thinking from Drew found only Malcolm and passed the reading off as a technical glitch and left. But Dr. Murdoch new she would be back with another chance to kill his night students and this time she would be closer than ever.
“Yes I remember the last time you were here you went down my wine cellar after your little gadget malfunctioned and found Malcolm half naked.” Dr. Murdoch said.
“Yes that was not a good night for any of us. But the thing is I had all my equipment checked when I returned to my organisation and it was all working fine.” she said.
“So why do you think it went off then?” Dr. Murdoch asked knowing very well why it had gone off.
“I believe there was a vampire here but they left when they discovered I was here.” she said.
“Interesting. Oh pardon me where are my manners come in and take a seat.” Dr. Murdoch said as he moved to the side of the door and raised an arm to show her in.
“Thank you.” Marian Hackett said as she walked over to Dr. Murdoch's desk and was about to pull out one of the chairs when Dr. Murdoch pulled it out for her.
“Here you go.” Dr. Murdoch said as he pushed the chair slightly closer to the table.
“Always the gentleman Dr. Murdoch you never cease to flatter me.” she said with a large smile.
“Your welcome now you were about to tell me why you have returned to my school.” Dr. Murdoch said as he sat down on the other side of the table.
“Yes well it is just routine to inspect places that vampires might have visited in case they show up again, the reason I came to see you.” she said.
“You don't need a reason to see me Ms. Hackett I always enjoy your company.” Dr. Murdoch said showing another smile.
“Thank you Dr. Murdoch and call me Marian.” she said.
“Your welcome Marian.” he said.
“Now I would appreciate that tour if you don't mind, I would like to make sure there are no vampires here.” she said as she stood up.
“Of course but first how about a cup of tea?” Dr. Murdoch said as he stood up.
“I'm afraid I will have to pass on this occasion, but another time.” she said as she walked towards the door of the office.
“If you must decline, I'll show you round the rest of the school but we'll need to be quiet my students should all be asleep by now.” he said as he walked over to the door and opened it for Ms. Hackett.
“I doubt we will be making any noise just walking Dr. Murdoch, why what did you think we would be doing that would make so much noise it would wake up your students?” she asked as she exited the room.
Dr. Murdoch did not answer her question. He checked his watch to see how long it was to sunrise, he had six hours till then. Which meant Marty wouldn't be back for another good few hours. Leaving him plenty of time to get this inspection over and done with. He returned his watch to his waistcoat pocket and left his office, as he was shutting the door he took one last look at the coat of arms that led to his so called wine cellar, but more significantly the camera in the coat of arms hoping one of his students was watching. Sadly they were not.
Dr. Murdoch showed Marian Hackett around almost all of the grounds of the school most significantly the dark damp places no one wanted to go near. He checked his watch constantly but tried not to be to suspicious of it. Marian Hackett always insisted they went on further just in case her scanner might pick up something out of the ordinary. Dr. Murdoch new they wouldn't find anything though, the only vampire activity on Mansbridge grounds was in his wine cellar. She finally decided that she was not going to find anything significant to note so she decided to leave.
“I hope I didn't make you go out of your way?” Marian said as Dr. Murdoch walked her to the door.
“Not at all, its always nice to have company.” he said as they stopped in front of the door.
“That's good to know, that reminds me I never got a chance to check your wine cellar.”
Dr. Murdoch's heart jumped, this was the one thing he didn't want her to say as the cellar was the only place that Marian Hackett would find what she was looking for, vampires.
“I'm sure you can do that tomorrow, you look awfully tired and you should get some rest.” Dr. Murdoch's lie rolled right off of his tongue.
“I suppose your right its always good to see you again Dr. Murdoch, but I'm afraid I won't be getting much sleep tonight.” she said.
“And why would that be?” Dr. Murdoch asked as he opened the door for her.
“Seeing as my scanners didn't pick up anything in your school I'm going to look around the town nearby tonight.” she said as she exited the door.
“Its a fair sized town for one person.” he said trying to persuade her to reconsider.
“It won't be just me I'm going to phone a few of my colleagues on my way back to my hotel.”
“Good I wouldn't want you to be out alone.”
“I can take care of myself.” she said sounding a little offended.
“I didn't say you couldn't but you should always be careful.”
“I appreciate the thought, I'll see you tomorrow night maybe we can sample some of your wine.” she said as she walked to her car.
“I look forward to it, goodbye.” Dr. Murdoch said as he closed the door the same time as she closed her car door.
As soon as he heard her car pulling away he ran as fast as he could to his office, he unlocked the door and locked it again behind him as quick as possible, he dashed across the room and slid the coat of arms to the side he waited anxiously for the entrance to open. He could feel the sweat starting to appear in small beads on his forehead. The entrance to the cellar finally opened and he made his way down the stone path. He was greeted by an empty room, none of his night students were in site so none of them had probably saw that Marian Hackett had been their and were pretty much oblivious to the situation or the peril Marty could be in.
“Everybody get in here now!” Dr. Murdoch shouted.
“What's going on Dr. Murdoch?” Merrill asked as her and Drew entered the room.
“I'll explain in a minute. Where are Essie and Karl?” he asked wiping the beads of sweat from his head with a handkerchief .
“I'm right here doc.”Karl said as he entered the room.
“I was trying to do my make-up if you don't mind.” Essie said as she strolled into the room.
“Believe me Essie when I say we have more pressing matters at hand.” Dr. Murdoch said as he returned his handkerchief to his jacket pocket.
“What is it Dr. Murdoch?” Merrill asked again.
“I believe Marty may be in grave danger, and we are the only chance he has of survival.”
The cellar was silent.
