Anyone ever thought if AIDS can do anything to a vampire? I mean think of the aids epidemic in the 20th Century and if we are lead to believe in Vampire High that being a vampire comes from a disease itself.
So if our vamps drank someone's blood who has aids would i affect them? We know that the vamps can get different illnesses like The Withering and such so would it mutate when in a vampire and turn into something lethal for vampires too!?

A very good observation, so the question is really could it kill them or evolve, who knows maybe that happened to the Fury.

You had a question on Aids, then I got a question too ,there was a time when Vampires if they looked into mirrors they never could see their reflections so why do they see them in Vampire High. ?

vampires are suppose to be dead (by normal standards). And aids is a disease that only infects the living. (living cells) Perhaps it is the answer to this question.

AIDS attacks living cells in a person, i.e. their immune system, so I don't reckon it would affect vampires tbh. Oh and about the reflections - that kinda bothered me too a bit, lol...I sort of took a different angle in my fic (if I remember rightly, it was so long ago now!!) to try and explain this strange phenomenon!! Mind you, in modern vampire shows like Blood Ties and Moonlight, all the vampires have reflections as well. It must be a modern, post-Buffy thing

Maybe because they must be humanizing, but I loved that old fashioned idea of not being able to see the reflection of a Vampire gave them this mysterious appeal. Like just this week saw an episode of Vampire Knight and the idea that someone just offers themselves, as a take away is what I call it , if a vampire is hungry he is allowed to feed on this person and nothing happens to them kind of destroys the myth of Vampire's being vicious and dangerous.

I found this rather interesting explanation on the Net sounds plausibel and at the same time opens up many avenues for future story lines I think.
. It is believed that mirrors do not reflect the vampires image because they do not have a soul and are evil. Mirrors reflect dense physical objects such as a human body, but not the energy forms of vampires, which only appear to be solid to the mind’s eye of the beholder due to telepathic suggestion by the vampire or psychic ability in the beholder. It also could be considered as a gateway to another dimension that they cannot penetrate?
So if the young Vampire's are able to see themselves in mirror's how strong can their telepathic ability really be if they can influence each other this way and not only mortals. If that is the case then I have only seen Essie, Merrill and Marty look in mirrors, so my question is could they influence Karl and Drew in that way to do dark deeds.

They cant see their reflections becuz it would have cost lots of money and time to position the actors away from windows and mirrors the whole on camera time. Good tAKES CUD BE RUINED IF SOMEONES SHOULDER HAPPEN TO BE OVER TWO INCHES TOO FAR AND GOT IN THE MIRROR.

You can see we are just thinking of the story and not how they are going to film the whole thing but good point.

that was kind of a joke but yet true. well a more series answer would be that what ever human eyes can see a mirror can. the same principle of light reflection applies to eyes and mirrors. Like we learnt way back in grade school. The fact that vampires cant reflect in a mirror is a bigger question.

I myself was also thinking along the lines of vampires having no soul. i belive that beacuse they are beocming more human, they're soul would be re emerging, thus you could see them in mirrors.
but of course it was probably production costs
I'm not sure about the aids either, but it would make sense that since they're not alive, i don't think it'd affect them

hi the AIDs thing is really interesting, but I read a book once that when the vampires in it fed off a human with cancer, they got very sick like food poisoning and also in a ep of buffy - forget the title but the swim coach ws turning the swimming team into mutants by giving them steroids and i think angelus fed off one of them, then spat out the blood. anyway my point was that perhaps vamps just get food poisoning from ill humans or perhaps they have a sense that can detect illness and so don't feed on those humans - kinda like the way rats can detect illness in other rats by smell ? dxx p.s. hi Jacee - welcome

I've always thought that it would be plain to vampires' keen senses and therefore would instinctively avoid those with blood-borne diseases. You make a good point there, Demona. I remember that Buffy episode. Hehe. Can you remember the book, perhaps? That sounds interesting! The feeding from a cancer sufferer doesn't seem to follow in the mythology of Being Human but it is a slightly different universe to the Vampire High one. Then again, vampires in most legends seem to be immune to human diseases so it might not bother them whatever the infection, be it AIDS, HIV, sickle-cell anaemia or leukemia. As to the reflection issue, I love the collective notion you put forward there, Grotchops and Jaycee. That their reflections return as their redeption/humanisation grows. Though I have to say, on the shole and away from VH, I'm with you, etrader. It makes little sense that some mythological vampires (aside from those who are so-named psy-vamps because they have no physical form apart from that projected into the minds eye of their chosen vicitm) cannot be seen in mirrors since their bodies are still solid. 'Lissa.
