The Fury are among the most important characters in the show, 'cause lets face it, without them there would be no reason for the Mansbridge Project and no show. Please bear with me 'cause I'm gonna have a ramble. ;D

Apart from a glimpse of the clawed hand of Shakari, who is presumably the Fury leader, and one Fury/Fury drone, we hear very little detail about them so, naturally, I'm curious.
Do we know what they are? Presumably they must be some kind of vampire is they battled the Elders for control of the undead and have an aversion to sunlight.
Apparently, according to Ep 22, "Sunrise", Drakon was "Made a God by the Fury", so it kind of implies that the genetics of the Fury can alter the DNA of vampires and mortals alike.
This assumption is reinforced by everyone's worry in the final two episodes, Ep 25, "Blood Trip" and Ep 26, "The Vampire's Patient", that by feeding from Bridget, Karl has become infected by the Fury bloodline and also leads to the notion that Fury mustn't look too different from ordinary vampires.
So, what was the creature sent by Shakari in Ep 10, "Dads and Monsters", a Fury or some kind of ghost/demon? It was ugly but solid yet seemed able to possess and use any host body it chose - it didn't want Malcolm, though, which may or may not be significant. Either way, possession of a host would be the perfect disguise for a creature as singularly obvious as itself. I'd plump for Fury simply because of how it's corpse burned up in the sun, also backing up that the Fury are an alternative species of vampire.
If it was a Fury, it would also explain why the others couldn't be sure whether Karl was infected with Fury blood or not, as I said before. Bridget looked like a normal vampire, but maybe the black eyes only show in humans.
I also keep wondering who Shakari is. Obviously he is known to the Convocation vampires like Vakaal and the other Elders. Lesser, younger vampires like the night students know of him too so I guess he could be the Fury leader, or one of them. He doesn't seem like a warrior from the little we see of him, unlike the way Drakon was described, but more of a businessman. I wonder is Drakon was an equal or a warlord subordinate of Shakari.
Ooh, watching the show has set my imagination off again! Beware, for I'll be battering your poor little brains for a while! Sorry. *lol*
'Lissa.
