To add to it in different vampire lures the slayers are different. Some have the same abilites or have stronger abilities than a vampire. In others they are just regular humans that happen to have instinct to hunt vampires. But it appears by the episodes that perhaps he is more powerful than vampires. And their powers dont work on him. But most vampire lure agree that slayers live a human age, and r not eternal.

Ive just started watch VH .. my outlook on the Dr. Murdoch is that he is half V/ half H.....which would make him a slayer like recently pointed out...
I also believe his twin brother to Dragon(spelling)...then it would make a yin and yang effect....his twin brother causing havok and being noted the hugely evil one.... I think then Dr. Murdoch would be the pure half and being on the side of the elder......I think that he was tested by the elders to find his brother and bring him to justice...reason why he gets so angry in episode 12 ...Dr. Murdoch has to say goodbye to his brother and the evilness...and keeping his necklace as a keep sake in remeberance of his brother.
Dr. Murdoch forsure is an intruging man.

I think that Murdoch is a hybrid vampire. Everything points in that direction. (I could be wrong!)

I think you are right. No regular person could handle a job like that. He already has an in with The Enlightened Elders. (They would use their own kind)
