I think the couple I wanted to get together was Merrill and Marty as I think they had her brains and his excitement that went well!

Well I thought they were a cute couple, but yeah totally different people. They really didn't seem right for eachother.

Essie I used to think would end up with Marty as they were both quite wild but when I think about it there was no one that really matched Karl as he was different to the rest...

Karl and Essie were sweet, but that's about it. Half the time I almost felt that she was with him out of pity, and he came off as too depserate. Plus she's about 100 years older than him. All the girls are a bit too sophisticated for him really, even Dillan. He's too much the naive. Give him 50 years and he might have a chance with a woman.

Personally, I think it was nice to see a softer side of Essie. It was nice to see that slight change in her b/c someone treated her so well. But it did seem odd to me when age difference was so severely noticable. I don't really think he wanted to that commitment ceromony as much as he was just trying to find a way to keep her around. It was like running off to Vegas (i.e. get married/do something crazy) to save a relationship...(sorry for the americana reference)

Karl always reminds me of a puppy, he was bouncing around after Essie, striving for her attentions and generally getting underfoot. I think it was unusual for Essie to see this kind of... well, humanity, in a vampire and she was curious. Not so curious that she didn't resist, but you have to admit, Karl's earlier excitement was infectious. *lol*
But I have to agree, twas doomed from the beginning for one major reason. Karl's inexperience. With Essie and the others, they knew the urges and signs and had succumbed to them time and again. And they had seen the world change around them, learned to deal with their own reality in their own ways for decades. Karl was barely a year into his vampirehood and had no connection to the world the others had seen.
He probably couldn't understand why the others were so jaded (thats my favourite word tonight, methinks! *lol*) until the ceremony. I think Essie's kiss did more than to just paralyse him. I wonder if some part of her experiences was shared with him - and it was both that and Essie's ultimate rejection of him, that triggered his later violence and rebellion.
And I really think I'm talking a load of manure now... its late and I'm pretty tired. I'm gonna go to bed and wait til someone lets me know if what I've written here is even English, kk? *lol*
Did anyone notice that between Maidlola's post and yours, layla, that well over two years had passed?! Wow, thats... thats... I dunno what that is, really! Wow...
G'night all! 'Lissa.

Lol. Yeah I noticed I went back through the convo's on this forum to see if anything interesting caught my eye and also to make sure I wasn't repeating myself when a perfectly convo and frame of reference was in place Nothing wrong with reviving an oldy but a goody; and I had to stick my two cents in
