Okay, this is WAAAY off topic, but since its to do with an original story I'm writing, I reckoned it would be wise to stick it in here... It's a supernatural story (my fave kind) and I need to create several plausible Latin incantations. However, I need a little guidance - I've done the majority of the research but I'm a bit out of my depth and need help piecing it together so it actually reads properly. Does anyone here know Latin, or some rules of Latin grammar in the past? I'd be really grateful for any help, folks! 'Lissa.

hmm...i think the only problem with those translators is that if you try to translate a sentence it tends to do a literal translation and doesn't pay attention to the context of the words in the sentence! I tried it out with a couple of latin phrases that I know and unfortunately it didn't translate as it should -_- however, what you could do is use it to translate individual words, which is probably going to be time consuming but a lot more accurate. beware of translating verbs though, as it will probably just give you the infinitive so you will have to conjugate it yourself - as with most languages though it is pretty easy to conjugate verbs as they all follow distinct patterns according to their ending (omg GCSE French/Spanish talk is escaping!!)...these websites should help you along with that: www.angelfire.com/pa/mmclar/Latin.htmlwww.answers.com/topic/latin-conjugationarchives.nd.edu/latgramm.htmGood luck!!

*lmao* I tried the translation link, Marie...I thought I'd done well with my Latin but I actually got a nice gobbelby-gooky translation! Brilliant! *lmao* Ahh well, it made me laugh! Worth the attempt! Thanks for the link, hunny! Looks like the slower method you suggested, Mad, is best. *grinz and tries another translation for a laugh* 'Lissa.

Don't they just! *lol*I wonder how they can call it a dead language when many of the words we use daily are of Latin descent. I need more brain space! 'Lissa.
