Okay, Stephen King fans! This is another of his short story adaptations which I'm eagerly awaiting (for two reasons - its a King adaptation AND Andrew Lee Potts is in it, my current actor-du-jour. *lol*). Its due out on the 24th August 2007 here in the UK - I know, I'm very early with this one! *lol*
Based on Stephen's short story of the same name, the plot - of the story at least - surrounds a writer who, for his chosen and pretty successful job, has made a career of debunking ghost stories. Sleeping in haunted locations and reporting his experiences (or the lack of same). He chooses to visit the fabled Room 1408 for his next conquest, the site of so many suicides and other far more mysterious deaths that the owner will not allow anyone to stay in it. His skepticism is the only buffer he needs, he believes, only to find the room is not only truly haunted, but eviiiil to boot. Driven to the point of insanity by the spooky events there...ahh, but I can't say more.
Starring, among others, John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson, this does looks really scary. and for a 'fraidy-cat like me, would probably be pure torment. But heck, for Stephen and Andrew-Lee (slavers discreetly), I'll give it a go - finances permitting.
Actually, I'm finding it hard to see how they can span such a short story like this into an hour and a half of entertainment without getting repetitive, but than again, they managed it with "The Body" - the King story that they made into the highly successful "Stand By Me".
