One word describes this new UK TV series now showing on ITV1. WOW!
Professor Nick Cutter (Douglas Henshall) and his friend and work mate, Stephen Hart (James Murray) are convinced to investigate an animal attack by one of Nick's most enthusiastic students, Connor Temple (Andrew Lee Potts). In another part of the city, reptile expert Abby Maitland (Hannah Spearitt) is sent to recover a lost lizard only to find that it is a reptile with wings, a small, living dinosaur. She meets up with Cutter and his group and they come across one of the most fascinating and frightening discoveries of all time! They discover a portal, what they call an "anomaly" which looks like fractured crystal, which leads back to prehistoric times. And creatures are coming through.
When the Government gets wind of this discovery, the team become part of the task force, under the control of Sir James Lester (Ben Miller) and supervised by Claudia Brown (Lucy Brown), which is set up to protect the modern world from the specialised and deadly hunters of the past.
This is such a cool and well thought out six-part series, Primeval appeals to the big kid in me. Combining dinosaurs of all kinds (I've never heard of any of the species so far mentioned but I'm not complaining - Rex is adorable! *lol*), a compact cast of British talent (including the very appealing Andrew Lee Potts - who could resist such a lovely grin?! Yup, 'Lissa liiikes him! ), drama, comedy, romance and action all rolled into a well thought out and brilliant series!
I guess, much like many US and Canadian TV shows, this might not make the jump across the pond, but I'd like to think so. So, for those who haven't seen it, or would like to, heres a link to the official ITV site for reviews, interviews, behind the scenes stuff, downloads, an episode guide - the whole package. And, thankfully, they're holding back the episode reviews until that episode has aired, so no spoilers, either. Woohoo! Three eps to go and I can't wait. *lol*
