Thoughts everyone? I *adore* this show. I love the Angel Investigations characters (I was so sad about Doyle ) and I particularly love Wolfram and Hart, what a brilliant antagonist. I think Angel was considerably less repetitive than Buffy and was certainly much darker and more serious, but it still had the Whedon-esque funny moments and snappy dialogue ever-present on Buffy. ...and, of course, David Boreanaz is simply *yummy* ;D

You see I liked Doyle as well. I think that is why I prefer Season 1 to most of the others. I also love the charatcer of Cordelia in this series more than Buffy as she adds the right humor to the mix and has such good chemistry with Angel. It is much darker than Buffy but I think the comedy used is brilliant, especially when Angel himself is making a joke or pretending to be drunk!!!

Cordelia is probably one of the best characters of the show in my opinion, if only for the fact that her development after getting the visions from Doyle was just exquisitely written. and, let's face it, she was totally hilarious - one of my favourite Cordy quotes actually comes from the first time she meets Angel in LA... Cordy: So, are you still all...you know...[holds up hands like claws] 'grrr'? Angel: Yeah...you know, there's not really a cure for that. Muchos lolz ;D one of my favourite aspects of Angel was the fact that there were loads of flashbacks to the 'good ol' days' of the fanged four - Angelus, Darla, Dru and Spike. I'm just a sucker for nice costumes...

The flashbacks were very much an interesting part to this show BUT I did begin to get confused with Angel later on, especially the stuff with him having a son, I did not really enjoy that aspect of the storyline...

yeah...I was not so happy when Darla, one of my favourite characters, had to die to bring a non-sensical new character in. lol the Connor thing was a bit silly in my opinion - I'm watching season 4 at the moment and I find him quite annoying as a character. I was really glad when they effectively got rid of him! ...continuing with the theme of silliness in Angel, has anyone read the Angel: After the Fall comic series? I read on Wikipedia that Angel has befriended a dragon in the first episode and got really concerned for Joss Whedon's mental state

Wow, I definately need to pick that up. That sounds histerical!
I do have to agree about the direction of Angel at that point. Where they brought in Connor. I thought something much more interesting was going to happen with that, but when Connor and Cordie slept together....it gave me the willies and I think my love for the show weened a bit.
The exact same thing happened for me with the Dawn character in Buffy....It was like, "did you guys run out of ideas?"

I just *wish* they hadn't killed off Darla and got rid of Dru - they were my favourite evil-but-hilarious characters!! (I always like the evil ones ) Lilah was cool though, what a fantastic antagonist - I loved her relationship with Wes, very dark and edgy...and Lindsay was very nice to look at as well

Angel is a flawed hero, like detective Andy Sipowicz in NYPD Blue.

For those who wish the show didnt end they did continue it with a comic, I cant remember the full name but I think its called 'After the Fall' and it picks up pretty much where the tv show ended.
