IT'S PIRATES DAY TODAAAAAYYYY!!!! wow this is even better than my birthday!! *phew* I can't wait to see it...even though the wonderful Metro newspaper only gave it 2 stars. 2 STARS!! But I don't care; they obviously just don't understand the wonderful world of PoTC properly hehehe lol ok - I have to go sit down, breathe deeply and *attempt* to calm down (lol)...

Two stars only from the wonderful Metro?! Dearie me! We'll have to prove them wrong on that, won't we, Mad? *pats your shoulder* Deep breaths, in....and out....in....and out. *lol* I can't wait to get to see it though. In fact a double bill, Zodiac and Pirates 3! Bonus!! 'Lissa.

You lucky thing! I'm sooo jealous! Hehe! Well? What's the verdict (other than amazing, of course)? No spoilers, but how does it compare to parts one and two? Was it more than 2 stars amazing? 'Lissa.

I went to see it last nite!! I really enjoyed it, but I get the feeling that if I weren't already a huuuuuge PoTC fan I wouldn't have thought it was too great...the plot was pretty messy, there are some things that, in a film about pirates, don't really make a lot of sense and basically there is too much going on at once. This makes the first 2 hours fairly confusing - with many unnecessary scenes/plot features that could have been edited out. It seems that a couple of the plot lines were only included so that they could use copious amounts of CGI effects...which were brilliant but perhaps a tad too much. Saying that, the last hour or so was fantastic...the big climactic battle at sea was superbly done (CGI was suitably amazing!) and everything seemed a lot simpler - no more confusing plotlines! Yay! The cast were excellent as always...though Orlando Bloom was his usual wooden self in my opinion - it was basically Geoffrey Rush and Johnny Depp holding the whole film together. So it's amazing that they managed to do so! It was a bit disappointing to be honest, but I still managed to enjoy it and I will *definitely* be buying the DVD lol hope this doesn't put anyone off though... I would give it 3 and a half stars :/...but I still want to go see it again lol!

*lol* Hey, perhaps it'll stand up better to a second watching. But hey, 3 1/2 stars is better than 2! Obviously. I felt that way about the second one, but after my second time through, I realised just how good it was. I totally negated my first impression. Maybe it'll be the same for you with "PotC3"? Now I'm really jealous of you both! *lmao* Really. That was an jealous laugh. Honestly. *wynx* 'Lissa.

I went to see Pirates 3 last week (didn't get to post about it 'til now) and though I mostly enjoyed it, I can see why it got some scathing reviews....such a shame. I was disappointed by it, too, Mad. I reckon there were a few chunks that could have been pared down, or totally removed, which wouldn't have harmed the storytelling. Davy Jones was perhaps a little overdone (ahh, but I suppose thats the point of having pirates around?! *lol*) , though I couldn't help feeling slightly sorry for him later. Jack's....hallucinations, are bizarre and perhaps too crazy even for Jack Sparrow...ahem, Captain Jack Sparrow, sorry. The comedy banter seemed strained a little, too. Barbossa is cool, as always, and his rivalry with Jack is pretty entertaining. Where did Callisto go to?! I thought she was supposed to be helping? *lol* But two of my favourite supporting characters got oodles more screentime than in the other films so I'm happy there! I'm talking about the incomparable Pintel and Ragetti, of course. *lol* I've always loved 'em and they provide some of the best laughs in the film! And there are a few in-jokes which get a giggle. And, of course, I'm kinda drawn to the new, darker Will Turner. And Elizabeth proves herself to be a fine female pirate. So, some good points too. I guess I'm disappointed 'cause the first film was just so darned good, how could they possibly match it? Ahh well, I'll still get it on DVD, just to complete the trilogy, methinks. Though that means buying the second one! *lol* Perhaps both'll be better after a rewatch? 'Lissa.
